Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary

Day 683 of my captivity:

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the floor.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a "good little hunter" I am. The audacity!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was
placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of "allergies." I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my
tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow - but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches.

The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded!

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe .... for now.

I'm cozy....

The latest medical report about me is both good and bad. The good news is that my liver has recovered and I don't have to take the NASTY goop or pill any longer. The bad news is that my glucose is still above limits and the vet increased my insulin dosage to 2 units twice a day. Hopefully that will make some improvement to get my glucose down to normal. In the meantime, I'm still as nuts as I ever was. :)

Shucks...I'm embarrassed!

I have been visiting the vet quite a bit in the last few weeks, after my mom and dad noticed that I was drinking and using the litter box a lot. After some tests, they determined that my glucose and bilirubin levels were quite high and did some more testing. After a liver cell biopsy (see my beautiful shaved pink belly?), they have determined that I have Hepatic Lipidosis (fatty liver disease) and diabetes, both of which can be treated. Though my levels have actually decreased over time, I still have to take a NASTY goopy antibiotic, a liver-protection pill, and insulin. My doctor hopes that my liver will recover and that my diabetes will revert to normal levels without insulin. Though my appetite waned for a few days, it is back as voracious as ever, and I am currently as active as usual. Your prayers for my conditions are much appreciated!

Another Gigi Twin....

Recently, my friend Max joined a cats-only website called Catster, so I joined and placed my bio there. As I browsed around there to find some other feline friends and, after my post below about another black and white cat named Gigi who was rescued from Hurricane Katrina, I discovered another feline twin: A tuxedo cat named Gigi, living in Texas! This cat is male, however, and would be a great fit, I think, if we were ever to see each other in person.

As I was reading along in "Cat Fancy," I came across an article about a true twin of mine--a black and white cat named Gigi--who, along with her brother Stan, was abandoned during Hurricane Katrina. After much care, she eventually recovered from her trauma. Click here to read the whole article.

While my owners visited family over the Thanksgiving holidays, they got to see my 5-month old "cousin" brothers, Maxwell (top) and Smokey Joe (bottom). As you can see, they're very close siblings!

White cat turns pink

A Devon couple are mystified after their snow white cat suddenly turned bright pink. Philip and Joan Worth, of Bratton Clovelly, near Okehampton, could not believe their eyes when Brumas came home.

The nine-year-old cat had undergone a drastic transformation. Mrs Worth said: "He was pink - Barbie pink. His head, ears and right down his body, although not underneath, had gone a quite brilliant pink." Mr Worth added: "He went out snow white and came back Barbie pink.

"We went to the vet, but they couldn't find any reason for it, although they decided it wasn't toxic, which was what I was worried about."

Here I am, doing one of my favorite things: Rolling back and forth on the balcony. It gives me some exercise, as well as gives me a good back scratch. :)
